The Story

The Carlyle is a pretty standard trouser from Engineered Garments, with the most defining feature being a single-pleated front. The added real estate combined with a tapered silhouette creates a supremely comfortable fit. There's plenty of room to move up top whilst the taper means you don't have massively wide legs to swallow up your shoes. Out back you get a pair of nice big pockets, both of which are buttoned for peace-of-mind if you're carrying valuables around.

The woven "old plaid" cloth these are cut from is a weighty jacquard which looks like a blown-up version of a traditional pattern.
